Definition
A Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) is a group within an organisation responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of products, services, or processes. Its primary focus is to establish and maintain quality standards, conduct audits, and implement improvements to uphold and enhance overall quality. The committee often works collaboratively to monitor adherence to quality policies, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices to achieve and maintain high-quality standards.
The QAC is responsible for reviewing the completeness of newly data registered datasets, and requires the following fields to be completed and reviewed before they are made available to other users:
- Name
- Definition
- Access Rights
- Spatial Coverage: i.e. What geographic area does this data cover?
- Temporal Coverage: i.e. What time period is covered in this data?
- Contact Point
The following are recommended, but not mandatory attributes:
- Frequency: i.e How often is this data updated? This is optional for raw data, but recommended for aggregated data that it refreshed on a regular or ad-hoc basis.
- Sensitivity Level: This is only required for data that will be made available to external users.
This list of recommended and mandatory attributes is reviewed on an annual basis to ensure they are fit for purpose.
